General Transmissions receives John Deere supplier innovation award

General Transmissions, based in Les Herbiers, France, has been selected as a recipient of a John Deere supplier innovation award for 2012.

The award is presented to a select group of suppliers who have demonstrated innovations in a product or service they supply to John Deere. Award selections are based on four criteria – creativity, feasibility, collaboration and bottom line impact.

John Deere introduced the awards in 2010 to promote innovation in the company’s supply base and recognize suppliers who demonstrate creative thinking.

General Transmissions General Manager, Wouter Barendrecht, accepted the award during formal ceremonies held on March 5, 2013 at The River Center in Davenport, Iowa. “Our international team of designers, engineers and manufacturing experts strive to create and produce the best possible product”, said Barendrecht. “To be recognized by a world leader for our efforts is indeed an honor”.

In addition to their headquarters in France, General Transmissions has facilities in Mexico and China. Since its beginning in 1992, General Transmissions has become a leader in lawn care transmission systems, originally for walk behind mowers, and, more recently, in riding mowers.
In addition, they have introduced a new-concept transmission to the snow thrower industry.
